CleverOS bills the subscriptions of the security companies that run on it: recurring plans, VAT, invoices, receipts and a two-way sync with accounting packages. Behind that sit CleverCam's own books. Both need someone who reads a ledger and a query with equal comfort.
You will own CleverCam's financial accounting, and you will be the finance mind inside the product team: checking that the billing logic is right, finding the edge cases before customers do, and automating the reconciliations that keep everything honest.
What you'll do
- Own CleverCam's monthly accounting: reconciliations, VAT, management accounts and year-end with our auditors.
- Reconcile platform billing against the accounting system: subscriptions, invoices, payments, credit notes and cash-ups.
- Write scripts and queries to automate reconciliations, spot anomalies and produce reports.
- Work with the developers on billing features: pricing rules, VAT treatment, statements and exports.
- Support customers' finance teams with billing questions and month-end.
- Improve financial controls as the company and transaction volume grow.
What you bring
Essential
- BCom in Accounting or Financial Accounting, or equivalent.
- Two or more years in financial accounting, including VAT and month-end.
- Real programming experience: you can write SQL and a scripting language, and you have automated something at work.
- Strong Excel and a habit of checking the totals twice.
- Clear about what the numbers mean and able to explain them to non-accountants.
Advantageous, not essential
- Articles or progress towards a professional designation (SAIPA, CIMA or SAICA).
- Experience with subscription or recurring billing, and with Xero or a similar accounting package.
- Data tooling beyond spreadsheets.
Who you are
- Precise:
- the cents matter, and so does the reason they moved.
- Curious:
- opens the code path when the report does not add up.
- A builder:
- automates the third repetition.
- Trusted:
- handles money and customer data with care.
The opportunity
The role can grow into finance lead, or into owning the billing product, as the company grows.
